Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA): Install and Configure Desktop Token App - Yubico Authenticator

Before You Start

This article describes how to install and configure a desktop token application. This desktop application will generate the MFA codes required to access your account in place or in addition to your other MFA factors. This method is only recommended for people who don't have a cell phone or who have trouble with the cell phone method.

Steps

  1. Navigate to Yubico Authenticator for Desktop site
  2. Download the "Yubico Authenticator for Desktop" application for your device (Windows, Mac, or Linux).
  3. Run Yubico Authenticator Setup.
  4. Run Yubico Authenticator
  5. Click "Add Account"
  6. Follow the instructions the Register a Security Key section of this Microsoft article.
  7. The Yubico Authenticator program will now generate the MFA codes for your account.
