Adding your Yubico Key to Brockport Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

This article goes over how to add your Yubico (FIDO2) token to your M365 account. 

This is great way to quickly and easily access your account! It is also one of the most secure ways to access your account. 

Compatible Yubico Keys can be purchased here: USB-A and USB-C. Check your computer's ports to purchase the correct key.

Once you have your key open a browser and go to : https://myprofile.microsoft.com/

Login with your Brockport email address, password, and current MFA method. 

On the left, click Security info.

Click Add method.

From the drop-down menu click Security Key.

 Click Next to setup your security key.

Now insert your Yubico key into your computer via USB :

You will need to setup your PIN (6 character minimum). This should be only known by you and not easily guessed. 

 Next, you can now release the key information by pressing the button on the key

Now, you need to release your security code stored in the Yubico Key. You can now do this by pressing the button on the key.

Name your key in M365. I used 'Yubico Key'.

Now you can see your Security Key has been added to your account!

The Security key cannot be your default MFA device, but when you log into M365 click "Other ways to sign in" then click "Use Windows Hello or a security key".

You'll be prompted to touch your Yubico key to finish signing in.
