How to Reset Your Password or Claim Your Account

If you don't know your current password, your password is not working, or to Claim / Activate / Start using your Brockport account:

Note: SUNY Brockport is currently transitioning to a new account claim process. Please follow the instructions below that apply to you based on when you received your admissions notification or when you were hired to work at Brockport. 

If you received your admissions notification or were hired on or after February 19, 2026 (New Claim Code Process)

You should have received an email to the email address you used when applying to attend or work at SUNY Brockport containing a claim code. Please follow these steps:

  1. Go to Accounts.brockport.edu
  2. Click "Claim My Account"
  3. Enter your full Brockport Email Address (NetID@brockport.edu) and your Claim Code
  4. Read and agree to Brockport's Acceptable Use Policy
  5. Create your password
  6. Go to Brockportal to sign into your account and set up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

If you received your admissions notification or were hired before February 19, 2026(Temporary Transition Process)

During this transition period, please use the steps below to claim your account:

  1. Go to Brockport.edu
  2. Click the “Information For” drop down menu
  3. Then select the appropriate group you belong to
  4. Click“Webmail”
  5. Click “Sign In”
  6. Enter your full Brockport email (netID@brockport.edu), then click “Next”
  7. Click “Forgot my password”
  8. Complete the CAPTCHA and click “Next”
  9. Select “I forgot my password” and click “Next”
  10. New students and employees should have an option to have a code sent to the email address they applied to Brockport with, current students should have the option to use the phone number or email address you enrolled with. 
  11. Once you receive the code, enter the code and click "reset password"

Note: Brockport encourages you to set a strong, Brockport-specific passphrase for your account. The University password policy is viewable in its entirety here.

To change your NetID password (If you know your current password and can still log in:)

  1. Navigate to WebMail in a web browser 
  2. Click on your name or profile picture in the top left corner.
  3. Select "View Account".
  4. Then "Security Info" in the left menu.
  5. Click "Change" next to Password.
