How to find your Service Tag or Serial Number 

The blue tag on the device does NOT provide any needed information. Blue College at Brockport Sticker with four numbers is NOT the service tag.

Dell Laptop: There is a 7 digit "service tag (or S/N)" located on the bottom of the laptop. Dell Desktop: There is a 7 digit service tag located on a black and white sticker on the back of the device or behind the stand where it says "service tag." Dell All in One: There is a 7 digit service tag located on a black and white sticker on the back of the device or behind the stand where it says "service tag." HP Laptop: Around 9 digits, the serial number is located on the bottom of the device where it says "S/N#."Bottom of a HP laptop shows an example of a service tag under "S/N#". Example of service tag given, 5CD0237S09.

HP All in One: Around 10 digits, the serial number is located on the bottom edge of the back of the computer.   Bottom edge of the back of a HP all-in-one shows an example of a service tag right of a barcode. Example of service tag given, MXL6491J4T.

Mac Laptop: Around 12 digits, the serial number is located on the bottom of the device where it says "serial."Bottom of a Mac laptop shows an example of a service tag under "serial." Example of service tag given, C02VH1Q5HV2D. 

IMac (All in One): Around 12 digits, the serial number is located on the bottom of the stand where it says "Serial No."Bottom stand of a iMac all-in-one shows an example of a service tag under "serial no." Example of service tag given, QP9110MT0TM..

How to Find Computer Name on Windows Device

  1. Open "Settings."

  2. Search "Computer Name."

  3. Click enter or "View your PC name."

  4. Then the computer name will be displayed under device specifications where it says "device name."

NOTE: If you cannot log into the device type: .\ in the username field and the computer name will appear underneath where the password gets typed in.

Under Other user, type: .\, and under password bar it will say the device name next to "sign in to."

How to Find Computer Name Mac 

  1. On your Mac, choose "Apple menu."

  2. Open "System Preferences."

  3. Click "Sharing."

  4. Then the computer name for your Mac appears at the top of Sharing preferences.

Under "Sharing," there will be a box labeled "Computer Name" where you can see the device name.
