Printing FAQs

How much can I print?

Students are provided with $45 of free-of-charge printing during each semester in student access computing labs. 

Employee printing is accounted for when you print and is charged to your department quarterly. Employees will see a negative balance when they print. 

How much does it cost to print?

Each black and white print itself costs $.08 per side. 

Each color print will cost $.25 per side. 

How do I print from my laptop?

Where can I check my balance? 

  1. Click Here
  2. Sign in with your netID and password 
  3. Balance information is in the bottom left

How long do I have to release my print job after I submit it? 

Submitted print jobs will remain available to released for 4 hours. If they have not been released after 4 hours, they will be automatically cleared. 

How can I delete a print job I no longer want? 

You can let the print job sit and it will be deleted after 4 hours, or you can navigate to printing.brockport.edu and delete the job.

How do I get my printing allocation?

The printing allocation is given at the beginning of the Fall and Spring semester for every student. Employee Printing will be billed to their Department quarterly, there is no need to add allocation for employees.

Does my balance roll over from semester to semester?

No, print funds do not roll over each semester. 

Are printing balances refundable?

No, printing balances are not refundable.

How many pages can I print during winter and summer sessions?

Students registered for a winter or a summer session will have $20 of free-of-charge balance added to their account.

There was a printing problem, what do I do?

Submit a request through the self service portal using the Print Refund Request 

What are some alternatives to printing?

  1. Send a file or document to yourself by attaching it to an email message. Web-based electronic mail programs such as your Brockport email easily handle attachments.

  2. OneDrive is personal file storage space on campus. Students and Faculty/Staff currently affiliated with SUNY Brockport all have an account. For more information about OneDrive please see the OneDrive knowledge articles.

  3. Purchase a flash drive to store files and documents.

  4. Microsoft Office OneNote It's a software package on all lab computers used for information gathering and multi-use collaboration. The software is also designed for collecting, organizing and sharing materials. It's perfect for research projects!
