First steps for new students to access Brockport technology resources 

It's important that you know your SUNY Brockport account as soon as possible. Your NetID is the primary account you will use at Brockport. Your NetID is used for Wi-Fi, computer labs, Blackboard, Banner, apply for a parking permit

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I reset my NetID password?

You can navigate to https://Changer.brockport.edu to change your password as long as you meet the following criteria:

  • If you know both your NetID and your password.

  • If you don't know your NetID or your current password - You must have your 800#, last 4 of your social security number (must be on file with the college), and birthdate. 

Instructions on resetting your NetID will be found on the changer site.  Please note: It will take up to 30 minutes for your new password to sync out to external systems.  The best way to test if your new password works is to log into Web Banner using your NetID and new password. 

How do I get help from IT (submit a ticket)?

To submit a help ticket, visit our Self Service Portal at brockport.edu/go/itservicedesk or select IT Service Desk from the Quick Links menu on the Brockport website. From there you can click the "Submit a ticket" button. 

Do I need to buy a specific type of computer?

No, almost all computers and tablets are supported on our network. For our recommendations, look here: Minimum Hardware Requirements, at this time we do not recommend Chromebooks. 

Does Brockport have wireless internet?

Yes, all Residence Halls, administrative, and academic buildings have wireless Internet! You can even print from your laptop over the wireless network.

Do I need to purchase a printer for my dorm room?

It is not necessary because Brockport has printers available for students to use. 

How can I print from home?

To print to a lab printer from a laptop open a browser and go to http://printers.brockport.edu/app. Using your NetID and Password you can print to any network lab printer.

Does Brockport have a printing policy?

Yes, students can print 300 double-sided pages, or 450 single-sided pages per semester for free.  After that you can add additional funds to continue printing if necessary. 

Are computer discounts available to Brockport Students?

What kind of software is FREE to students at Brockport OnTheHub?

Students can currently download the newest version of Microsoft Office and the Windows 10 operating system for FREE.

  • Using VLAB - This program allows Brockport students access to our campus lab computers from home. Once this program is installed, the user can simply log in and utilize any of our PC software programs!
